Enhancing Farmers’ Skills to Reduce Losses and Improve Product Quality

DSDD conducted a Post-Harvest Handling Training at Myamba Village aimed at equipping farmers with practical knowledge and skills to minimize post-harvest losses and improve the quality of their agricultural produce.

The training focused on best practices in harvesting, sorting, cleaning, drying, storage, and transportation of crops. Participants learned how proper post-harvest management can help preserve crop quality, increase market value, and reduce losses caused by poor handling and storage conditions.

Farmers also discussed common challenges encountered after harvesting and explored practical solutions to maintain product quality and food safety. The interactive session encouraged knowledge sharing and the adoption of improved post-harvest technologies and techniques.

Through this initiative, DSDD continues to support smallholder farmers in strengthening agricultural value chains, improving food security, and increasing household incomes through sustainable farming practices.
