Training on Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC) at Mafingiro Kanisan Group

Promoting Financial Inclusion and Community Empowerment

DSDD conducted a training session on Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC) for members of the Mafingiro Kanisan Group, aimed at strengthening financial literacy and enhancing community-based savings and lending practices.

During the training, participants explored the meaning and principles of SILC, gaining a better understanding of how community savings groups operate and contribute to household economic development. Discussions also focused on the qualities and morals required for successful participation in SILC, including honesty, trustworthiness, commitment, discipline, and cooperation among members.

The session further highlighted the importance of group formation, emphasizing how collective action enables members to mobilize savings, access loans, support one another during emergencies, and undertake income-generating activities. Participants engaged in interactive discussions and shared experiences on how SILC groups can improve livelihoods and promote financial resilience within their communities.

Through such capacity-building initiatives, DSDD continues to empower communities with practical financial management skills, fostering self-reliance, social cohesion, and sustainable economic growth.
