Strengthening Organic Farming Through Participatory Certification

DSDD conducted a training on the Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) aimed at enhancing farmers’ understanding of community-based organic certification and quality assurance. The training brought together farmers, producer groups, and key stakeholders to learn about the principles, standards, and benefits of PGS in promoting sustainable agriculture.

Participants gained practical knowledge on organic production requirements, record keeping, internal inspections, peer reviews, and compliance with agreed organic standards. The session also emphasized the importance of transparency, trust, and active participation among farmers in maintaining the integrity of organic products.

Through group discussions and practical exercises, farmers explored ways to improve farm management practices and strengthen their collective responsibility in ensuring product quality. The training also highlighted how PGS can improve market access and consumer confidence in locally produced organic products.

DSDD continues to support farmers in adopting sustainable agricultural practices and strengthening organic value chains through capacity building and collaborative learning initiatives.
