Follow-Up on SPICE Project Activities Cinnamon and Cardamom Seedlings Production
The Diocesan Same Development Department (DSDD) continues to strengthen the implementation of the SPICE Project through regular follow-up activities focused on sustainable agriculture and livelihood improvement.
Recently, a follow-up visit was conducted to assess the progress of cinnamon and cardamom seedlings production among participating farmers. The visit aimed to monitor nursery establishment, provide technical guidance, and ensure that farmers are adopting best practices in seedling preparation and management.
During the session, farmers were supported on key aspects including proper seed selection, nursery bed preparation, shading techniques, watering practices, and pest and disease control. Emphasis was also placed on maintaining high-quality seedlings to ensure better survival rates once transplanted to the field.
The activity demonstrated encouraging progress, with many farmers showing commitment and improved skills in managing spice nurseries. Cinnamon and cardamom production is expected to contribute significantly to household income while promoting climate-resilient farming systems.
DSDD remains committed to empowering communities through continuous capacity building, ensuring that SPICE Project interventions bring sustainable and long-term impact.
Together, we grow sustainable livelihoods.
