The Diocese of Same Development Department (DSDD) conducted a follow-up visit on the Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) at Bwambo Village in Same District. The activity aimed at assessing progress made by farmers in adhering to organic production standards and strengthening their internal control systems.

During the visit, farmers shared their experiences and challenges in implementing organic farming practices, record keeping, and peer review mechanisms as required under the PGS framework. The session also involved field inspections to verify compliance with agreed organic standards and to ensure transparency and trust among group members.

The follow-up exercise emphasized:

  • Strengthening farmers’ commitment to organic principles
  • Improving documentation and farm records
  • Enhancing peer monitoring and accountability
  • Promoting market access for organically certified produce

Farmers expressed their appreciation for the continued technical support provided by DSDD, which contributes to improving crop quality, environmental conservation, and household income.

DSDD remains committed to empowering smallholder farmers through sustainable agriculture initiatives and ensuring the successful implementation of Participatory Guarantee Systems across the district.
