Follow-Up by Tanzania Organic Agriculture Movement (TOAM) Officer on Organic Farming Certification Process at Bwambo Village
A follow-up visit on the Organic Farming Certification Process was conducted at Bwambo Village by an officer from the Tanzania Organic Agriculture Movement (TOAM), in collaboration with the Diocese of Same Development Department (DSDD).
The purpose of the visit was to assess the progress made by farmers who are undergoing the organic certification process and to provide technical guidance to ensure compliance with organic farming standards. During the session, farmers were reminded of the key principles of organic agriculture, including:
- Proper documentation and record keeping
- Use of organic inputs and natural pest control methods
- Soil fertility management through composting and crop rotation
- Prevention of contamination from non-organic sources
- Internal control systems within farmer groups
The TOAM officer reviewed farm practices, checked records, and provided recommendations to address identified gaps. Farmers were encouraged to maintain consistency in applying organic practices to successfully meet certification requirements and access premium organic markets.
This follow-up activity reflects DSDD’s continued commitment to promoting sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, and improved market opportunities for smallholder farmers in Same District.
We appreciate the dedication of Bwambo farmers in embracing organic farming and taking steps toward certification for better livelihoods and healthier communities.
