🌱 Tree Nurseries Formulation Initiative

The Diocese of Same Development Department (DSDD) is pleased to share the successful implementation of the Tree Nurseries Formulation initiative aimed at promoting environmental conservation and sustainable livelihoods within our communities.

The activity focused on equipping community members with practical knowledge and skills on how to establish and manage tree nurseries effectively. Participants were trained on:

• Selection of suitable nursery sites
• Preparation of seedbeds and potting materials
• Seed selection and treatment
• Proper sowing and transplanting techniques
• Watering, shading, and general nursery management
• Pest and disease control
• Preparation for tree planting in farms and homesteads

This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to environmental protection, climate change mitigation, and improvement of household income through agroforestry practices. By empowering communities to produce quality tree seedlings locally, we are strengthening reforestation efforts and promoting sustainable land use practices.

Tree nurseries not only contribute to restoring degraded areas but also provide opportunities for income generation through the sale of seedlings.
