Presentation on Pastoralism in Development
DSDD recently hosted a presentation on Pastoralism in Development, delivered by Mr. Alais, a seasoned development consultant with extensive experience in pastoral and livelihood systems.
The presentation highlighted the critical role of pastoralism in sustainable development, particularly in arid and semi-arid areas. Mr. Alais discussed key challenges facing pastoral communities, including climate variability, land use pressures, and access to services, while also emphasizing opportunities for integrating pastoralism into national and local development frameworks.
Participants gained valuable insights into policy approaches, inclusive planning, and practical strategies that support pastoral livelihoods while promoting resilience, economic growth, and environmental sustainability. The session also encouraged dialogue on strengthening collaboration among stakeholders working in pastoral and rural development.
DSDD continues to facilitate knowledge-sharing platforms that contribute to informed decision-making and inclusive development practices across Tanzania.
